I was introduced to
Pembroke Welsh Corgis about fifteen years ago. My daughter, Lacey, who now has
many Best In Show wins under her belt, wanted to show a Pembroke Welsh Corgi in
Junior Showmanship. At the time, she was eleven years old.
Our family was
blessed with our first Corgi, CH M-Candol E-Z Pickens, also known as Pickens.
Our wonderful adventure began with this fabulous dog, thanks to friends Janice
Lipaglav and Fran Foster. Pickens turned out to be a wonderful Junior’s dog for
my daughter, Lacey, and a Champion in the conformation ring as well, earning
Best of Breed and Herding Group wins. Pickens was our show dog, but far most
our beloved companion. As I continued to show in the conformation ring, Fran
Foster helped me along and later introduced me to Ron Buxton who became my
mentor and dear friend. Ron taught me everything I need to know about handling
the breed. My daughter, Lacey, excelled in her handling career by having
the opportunity to work for some of the top professional handlers in the
country. Lacey is now working on her Masters in Clinical Psychology at
University of Texas at Tyler.
Because of the
wonderful support I have had throughout my fifteen years of Corgis, I have bred
and showed several Best In Show winners, Best of Breed Winners, and multiple
Group Winning and placing Corgis.
My grandchildren,
Skylar and Carsyn, both five years old, help me socialize puppies and my great
husband, Bobby, is always there to take care of the dogs when I am traveling on
the road with my show string. He is always there to offer support and
encouragement.
Our Pembroke Welsh
Corgis bless our lives every day. Their wonderful personalities are always an
inspiration for my paintings, as are the fairy folk that come to my garden to
play in the twilight hours.
I hope to see you in
the Corgi ring soon.
God Bless,
